Nuisance Calls

From the spring, direct marketing companies will have to display their phone numbers, thus preventing anonymous nuisance calls.  Companies will be forced to display their telephone numbers or face heavy fines in a new crackdown on nuisance calls.  The legislation will allow customers to see who is calling them and make a formal complaint.  This also allows the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) to investigate and take action against offending firms.

Baroness Neville-Rolfe, the Minister for Data Protection, said on the matter “Being pestered by marketing calls is annoying at the best of times, and at its worst it can bring real misery for the people on the receiving end,”.

We think this is great news.  But, don’t forget to register with the telephone Preference Service (TPS).  Simply text OPTOUT to 80057 completely free or visit the link below through Which?, complete the short form and cut nuisance calls out of your life.
